Japan 2009: Joso to Moriya to Ueno

Monday, July 13th, 2009

After a long flight we land get home, unpack and relax. Jet lagged, I gab my camera and run around the block to photograph a small shrine: Kashima Shrine, Joso, Japan.

The following day we met with friends for a night walk in a Rikugien (六義園) park in Ueno and had a wonderful dinner in Komagome, Tokyo.

Hoppy (ホッピー) is a beer-flavored beer that the Kokuka Beverage Company began selling in 1948. Hoppy became popular as a beer alternative due to beer being to expensive for regular people at the time Hoppy was first produced. A popular way to enjoy Hoppy is to mix with Shochu (焼酎) a distilled beverage native to Japan which is most commonly distilled from barley, sweet potatoes, or rice.

Japan 2009

Our trip to Japan could not have arrived at a better time. I love what I do and being busy with assignment work doesn’t bother me at all but it is always enjoyable to step away from the comfortable to experience something different. You never know where you will find inspiration and we often setup full scale productions based off images that I stumble upon while walking around with my camera. These are a small collection of images of the conversations with old and new friends, the sound of snow on ancient rock at 6:30AM, the smell of rain on fresh cherry blossoms at 8:30PM, the hustle and bustle of traveling.
Check back often and see the latest that been inspired by our latest trip.
